An investment thesis on the Chevrolet BrightDrop AWD as the definitive adventure platform.
Prepared exclusively for E. Romoff.
CONFIDENTIAL. DO NOT DISTRIBUTE TO OTHER ROMOFFS.
01 ยท Executive Summary
FedEx had it first. They used it wrong.
GM built a 300-horsepower electric loft on wheels and painted it the color of package delivery.
Production ended October 2025. Supply is fixed. Forever.
The market believes this is a work van. The market has not been camping.
Recommendation follows on slide 10. Spoiler: it is not a hold.
THESIS: STRONG BUY
02 ยท The Asset
The numbers are not subtle.
400โ600
cu ft of cargo. A Manhattan studio is legally allowed to be smaller.
~9 ft
tall inside a vehicle. Stand up. Stretch. Do a little jump.
+3 in
wider than a Hummer EV. Yes, that Hummer.
2
sliding doors, low step-in. Engineered for 200 stops a day. You will make 2.
Flat floor. No seats to remove because GM never installed any. It arrives pre-gutted. The hardest step of every van build, done at the factory.
03 ยท The AWD Question
Get the dual motor. This is not negotiable.
300 hp
dual-motor AWD
390 lb-ft
of torque, available at zero rpm
Shared DNA
Hummer EV & Silverado EV components
GM engineered this thing to deliver packages through a blizzard. You will use it to reach a taco truck outside Marfa. Same energy. Campsites are not paved, Eric.
04 ยท The Camper Thesis
Someone already proved it. Loudly.
Grounded builds the G3 camper on this exact van: queen bed, kitchen, shower, Starlink, solar.
They charge $165,000โ$200,000 for it. People pay it. The comps exist.
Our build: same van, a Home Depot card, and a free weekend. (Three weekends.) (One fiscal year.)
Even the professional reviewers said it "would make an absolutely stellar recreational vehicle." That is analyst consensus.
05 ยท The Floorplan
Architecture of a 600 cu ft loft.
Drag plan sideways to read it
Sleeps four. Two adults aft, two children mid-ship.
The desk is real, not a lap tray. Designed for actual heads-down work.
Solar means the office runs on sunshine and spite.
06 ยท The Bear Case
Yes. The range. Let's talk about it like adults.
Standard-battery AWD: ~175 miles. Extended range: ~272 miles. That is the whole bear case.
DC fast charging adds ~160 miles per hour of charging. CCS1, plus Tesla Superchargers via adapter.
Campgrounds run 50-amp hookups. A camper that charges where it sleeps wakes up with a full tank. Every morning.
With a proper charger network, 250-ish miles between stops is a feature: it is called lunch.
RISK: ACKNOWLEDGED. PRICED IN.
07 ยท Market Timing
They stopped making it. That's the good news.
Production discontinued October 21, 2025. Every future BrightDrop already exists.
Fleet depreciation means someone else already paid for the expensive part.
Incentives ran up to 30% off in some regions. Commercial EVs nobody wanted: a category of one.
Every discontinued weird vehicle becomes a cult classic. The Previa. The Delica. This is the ground floor.
08 ยท Prior Art
The market has already validated the thesis.
Amateurs and professionals agree. The comps exist, and they are compelling.
Exhibit A: Gus Bus DIY Conversion
A 2025 Zevo 400 with ~310 mi range, EcoFlow Delta Pro, Starlink, and dinette-to-bed layout.
The passenger seat is a fold-down jump seat with the comfort profile of a church pew.
Sound insulation is, at this time, theoretical. Conversations at highway speed are "strained."
Will not fit in a parking garage. Irrelevant. It lives outside now.
Mitigation: speakers and seats are replaceable. Friendship is not.
10 ยท Recommendation
BUY. AWD. Extended range.
Step 1: Acquire van.
Step 2: Remove nothing. It is already empty.
Step 3: Install bed. Install fridge. Argue about the layout for six months.
Step 4: Drive west until the phone stops working.
The bright side is the only side.
